INTERESTING LIBRARY ACTIVITIES

 

1.   Make a book: Write and draw all your dreams. Fill it with stories, poems and drawings even subjects’ related content can also be used. This activity can be done for students of class 2 to 7.                                                                                                                                                          Outcome: Blending Art and Academics, Brainstorming, Joyful learning, sharing and celebrating the results.

2.    Word on Pebbles: Write some words on pebbles (permanent marker) or cards/ chits. Ask students to make a word bank related to pebble word or write a poem/story related to that word. This activity can be done for students of class 4 to 12.

Outcome: Enhancing vocabulary, creativity, Teaching Aid to teach grammar (Hindi and English)

3.   Sticks of story: This is a very interesting activity and can be used for many types of learning. For example: if you want to conduct a general discussion then have a proverb or sayings split in parts on a stick . Ask a person to rephrase it in order then can have a discussion on the quote. Another example can be dividing the sticks into categories (time, character, place, plot etc.). Ask the students to choose one stick from each category and make a story. Stories can be verbal or written.

Outcome: Creative thinking, verbal and communication skills will improve can be used for teaching lessons of various subjects.

4.   Story telling: This is one of the most ancient activities conducted for students. Story telling can be by the teacher or students. Verbal or written, true or fiction. The teacher can ask the student to write or narrate a true story that has impacted their life in this lockdown.

Outcome: Communication skills will improve, vocabulary will enhance, moral education etc.

5.  Creating a travel brochure: Ask students to create a travel brochure of a place they had visited/liked the most.

Outcome: The students will learn about various places, rivers, parks etc and academics can be blended with this activity to teach geography or history.
